Port augusta renewable energy park stage 2.

The port augusta renewable energy park project will be located on the coastal plain south east of port augusta in south australia incorporating both wind turbines and solar photovoltaic pv modules and will occupy approximately 5400 hectares of land running from port paterson in the north to winninowie in the south and spanning highway one. Stage 2 will include an additional 300mw solar capacity and a 400mw battery storage capacity. The desailly renewable energy park in queensland comprising 250 mw of solar and 300 mw of wind and the parep stage 2 featuring as announced earlier a further 300 mw of solar capacity and an expected 400 mw of battery storage capacity. Thirteen renewable energy projects are underway or under consideration from wind farms and pumped hydro electric power to solar with storage that can shift.

With a capex of 500 million the project will provide around 320 mw of power on land. Dp energy submitted a development application to the south australian state commission assessment panel and received sa government approval for the project in july 2018. The project has changed its name to bluebush solar as it is no longer linked to the port augusta renewable energy park. The developer claims that the combination of wind solar battery and synchronous condensers combine to create a renewable energy power station.

The wind turbines were originally approved to have a maximum height to the tip of the blades of 150 metres 490 ft but in june 2019. Stage 1 is planned to comprise 210mw of wind generation and 110mw of solar generation. Stage 2 remains owned by dp energy and is proposed to include more solar photovoltaic generation and a grid connected battery. The port augusta renewable energy hub has been developed by dp energy and has taken various forms over the last couple of years.

The port augusta renewable energy park is a unique hybrid renewable energy development integrating wind and solar pv technology. The 600 million port augusta renewable energy park is a hybrid wind solar project which will be completed in two stages. Dp energy has partnered with spanish renewable energy giant iberdrola to build stage 1 of the port augusta renewable energy park. The first stage now comprising 210mw of wind capacity and 110mw of solar capacity has been sold to iberdrola while dp energy retains ownership of a proposed second stage featuring more solar pv and a big battery.

The first stage will comprise of approximately 220mw of wind power as well as 150mw of solar power.
